With Phase 1 successfully completed, we are now ready to embark on Phase 2 of the Our Lady of Mercy Parish development project. This next phase will further enhance the functionality and inclusivity of our parish facilities. Planned additions and improvements include:
A new right-side extension of the church to accommodate our choir and musicians, allowing for better space, acoustics, and participation.
Construction of a large, covered multipurpose gathering area adjacent to the parish hall for community events, fellowship, and shelter during inclement weather.
Installation of a traditional confessional to support and enrich the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Replacement of the flooring in front of the altar with a more suitable, non-absorbent material.
Construction Timeline & Impact
Work will begin within days and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2025.
Mass times will continue as normal, although some disruptions (noise, dust) may occur during construction.
Marriage and memorial services may be affected, and we ask for your understanding.
Access changes during construction:
Disabled parking near the hall will be relocated to a designated area near the Guard Hut.
Access through Father’s office will be unavailable.
Hall remains accessible, but areas near construction zones will be off-limits for safety.
Windows on the right side of the church will be removed early in the project; the wall will be dismantled later.
Appeal for Support
As we enter this exciting new phase of growth, we are reaching out to all parishioners past and present, as well as the extended Our Lady of Mercy Kloof family, to support this important project in any way possible.
Key Points to Note:
Regular mass collections and pledges are not used for building works; these are reserved for parish operations and contributions to the archdiocese.
Funding for Phase 2 relies entirely on dedicated fundraising efforts and the generosity of our community.
Several existing and new fundraising initiatives are underway — your participation and support are vital.

Phase 1 of our church renovation project marked a significant step forward in enhancing our parish environment. Completed in 2021, this phase was fully funded by the generosity and commitment of our parish community. Key achievements include:
Aesthetic and structural improvements to our cherished spiritual home, creating a more beautiful and welcoming space for worship.
All enhancements were made possible without external funding, reflecting the unified vision and generosity of our parishioners.
This phase laid the foundation for future growth, ensuring our church continues to serve the needs of our congregation for generations to come.
Phase 1 stands as a testimony to what we can achieve when we come together in faith, and it has prepared the way for the exciting developments planned in Phase 2.
